This design project was completed in a Type Design course completed during the Fall semester of 2019 under the guidance of Richard Lipton. The entire typeface was created using RoboFont.
Ascher is a geometric, serif text face inspired by Chuck Palahnuik's novel, "Fight Club." The design is highly influenced by the high contrast, calligraphic gestures of blackletter script and the simple forms of typefaces designed for programming. The combination of traditional and modern work together to complement the author's bold yet minimalist writing style. This typeface's primary characteristics include its sharp diagonals, square serifs and the lack of overtly round characters.
